Product Overview
YCW Heavy Duty Weatherproof Rubber Sheathed Flexible Cable is the outdoor-enhanced variant of the YC rubber cable series, rated at 450/750V and manufactured to GB/T 5013.4. The suffix "W" stands for weatherproof — the defining upgrade over standard YC is the outer sheath compound, which is formulated with enhanced resistance to UV radiation, prolonged solar exposure, rain, ozone, and wide temperature cycling. Where YC is designed for general heavy-duty portable use, YCW is specified for applications where the cable remains outdoors for extended periods and must resist the cumulative degradation of direct sunlight, freeze-thaw cycling, and continuous atmospheric ozone exposure without surface cracking or hardening.
The internal construction is identical to YC: Class 5 fine-stranded bare copper conductor, natural rubber or EPR insulation per core, rubber compound inter-core filler, and a heavy-duty outer sheath — only the sheath formulation is upgraded for outdoor weathering performance. YCW is available in 1 to 5 cores, conductor sizes from 1.5 mm² to 150 mm², and is functionally equivalent to IEC 60245 / HAR H07RN-F with the additional weatherproof designation. Standard sheath colour is black (the most UV-stable pigment); orange and yellow high-visibility options are available on request.
Enhanced UV Resistance
Weatherproof sheath compound incorporates carbon black and UV stabilisers that prevent photo-oxidation and surface chalking under years of direct sunlight exposure — the primary failure mode of standard rubber sheaths left outdoors permanently.
Superior Ozone Resistance
Elevated ozone resistance formulation withstands ground-level ozone concentrations in urban and industrial atmospheres. Prevents the surface micro-cracking that propagates to sheath failure in standard rubber cables exposed to outdoor ozone long-term.
Rain & Moisture Resistant
Weatherproof sheath resists water absorption and surface softening under prolonged rain and wet-ground contact. Maintains electrical safety and mechanical integrity across full outdoor weather cycles — storms, dew, frost, and thaw.
Wide Temperature Cycling
YCW sheath retains flexibility and surface integrity through repeated freeze-thaw cycling — from summer peak temperatures to winter lows of −25 °C. Designed for permanently installed outdoor cables that experience the full seasonal temperature range.
Same Heavy-Duty Mechanical Performance as YC
Abrasion resistance, impact resistance, crush resistance, and oil resistance are equal to YC. YCW adds weathering performance without any reduction in the mechanical robustness required for demanding portable power applications.
Class 5 Flexibility at −25 °C
Fine-stranded Class 5 copper conductors and rubber insulation maintain full flexibility at −25 °C — the cable can be coiled and deployed in cold outdoor environments without conductor fatigue or sheath stiffening.

Key Features & Material Advantages
Weatherproof Sheath Formulation
The "W" designation signifies a sheath compound specifically tested for outdoor weathering: UV aging (IEC 60811-4-2), ozone resistance (IEC 60811-2-1), and weather resistance — performance levels not required from standard YC sheath.
Black Sheath for Maximum UV Stability
Carbon black pigment in the standard black sheath provides the highest UV stability of any sheath colour — carbon black absorbs UV radiation before it can degrade the polymer chain, giving decades of outdoor surface integrity.
Drag-Resistant Abrasion Performance
Heavy neoprene sheath withstands being dragged across rough concrete, gravel, asphalt, and steel gratings — the same mechanical performance as YC, with added long-term outdoor durability.
Oil & Chemical Resistance
Neoprene sheath resists petroleum oils, diesel, hydraulic fluids, and mild chemicals — important for outdoor generator pads and construction sites where cable-ground contact with spilled fuel is common.
Flame Retardant
Passes GB/T 18380 single-wire vertical burn test. Self-extinguishing sheath — important for outdoor events and festival sites where a cable fire could spread rapidly through temporary structures.
Long Service Life Outdoors
The combination of UV stabilisers, ozone resistance, and moisture resistance significantly extends outdoor service life compared to YC — reducing replacement frequency and total cost of ownership for permanently outdoor cable runs.
