RVMV & XRV Cable is a 0.6/1kV XLPE-insulated steel wire armoured (SWA) PVC-sheathed power cable manufactured to the Spanish standard UNE 21123-2. Two designations describe the same cable family: RVMV (R = steel wire armour, VMV = XLPE/PVC construction) and XRV (X = XLPE insulation, R = steel wire armour, V = PVC sheath). The dual naming reflects usage across Spanish-speaking and export markets where either designation may appear in project specifications. Single-core variants substitute aluminium wires for steel to eliminate eddy current heating — a requirement clearly stated in UNE 21123-2 for single-core SWA cables. For multi-core configurations, galvanized steel wires are standard since the magnetic fields of balanced phases cancel.

Copper Conductor
Soft annealed copper. Solid (Class 1) or rigid stranded (Class 2). Circular or sector-shaped for compact multi-core.
XLPE Insulation
Cross-linked polyethylene per UNE 21123-2. 90°C continuous, 250°C short-circuit (max 5s).
PVC Bedding (Inner Sheath)
Extruded PVC layer. Separates insulated cores from wire armour. Prevents wire abrasion during installation and service.
Steel Wire Armour (R)
Galvanized steel wires helically wound. Single-core: aluminium wires (marked LR in Spanish notation to indicate non-magnetic).
PVC Outer Sheath
PVC compound Type ST2 per IEC 60502-1. Black. Provides final mechanical and environmental protection.
