Product Overview

LXS Aluminium Overhead Aerial Bundle Cable is a 0.6/1kV bare twisted overhead cable with aluminium conductors and XLPE insulation, manufactured to Portuguese standard NP 3528, harmonised European standard HD 626 DMA C33-209, and IEC 60754-1 / EN 60754-1 for halogen-free performance. LXS is the aluminium-conductor counterpart of the copper XS — sharing the same left-hand (S) conductor stranding, right-hand (Z) helical core assembly, and bare (no outer jacket) construction. XLPE insulation serves as both dielectric and weather barrier, enabling outdoor overhead installation on poles and building façades without additional sheathing. LXS is designed for 25-year service life in extreme climates (-60°C to +50°C ambient), with the aluminium conductor offering ~50% weight reduction versus the copper XS for budget-sensitive public distribution networks.

Installation restriction: LXS cables are designed exclusively for outdoor overhead installation — tightened between supports or attached to building façades. They are NOT suitable for direct burial underground. For underground distribution, specify armoured cables (e.g. LXAV, LXRV) which provide the necessary mechanical protection. LXS also has no metallic screen — earthing must be addressed separately per local electrical code requirements.
