Product Overview

Cable NYAF Cu/PVC 450/750V is a single-core flexible copper conductor PVC insulated electrical wire manufactured to IEC 60227-1 and Indonesian national standard SNI 04-6629.3. The defining feature of NYAF is its Class 5 flexible stranding per IEC 60228 — the finest stranding class for fixed wiring, using up to 2,035 individual wires in the 400mm² variant. This produces a cable that bends like cord through the tightest switchgear compartments, control panels, and relay cabinets without kinking or spring-back, while maintaining the exact same current-carrying capacity and voltage rating as its Class 2 (stranded) and Class 1 (solid) counterparts for the same cross-section. The flexible annealed bare copper conductor is PVC insulated with a 70°C continuous rating, 160°C short-circuit withstand (calculated at 1s), and flame retardancy per IEC 60332-1.

Where solid wire (NYA/BV) prefers straight lines and stranded wire (H07V-R) tolerates gentle bends, NYAF is the wire you want when the path from the circuit breaker to the terminal block involves multiple 90-degree turns through a crowded enclosure. The bending radius is inversely graduated by cable diameter — 4×D for ≤8mm (1.5-10mm²), 5×D for 8-12mm (16-35mm²), 6×D for >12mm (50-400mm²) — making the smaller sizes the most flexible panel wires available. With a -30°C to +70°C operating range and a 2500V test voltage, NYAF is suitable for stationary and static appliances in all climate zones from tropical switchrooms to arctic control houses.

NYAF completes the building wire flexibility spectrum: NYA (solid, Class 1) for terminals where the wire never moves, NYAF (flexible, Class 5) for panel interiors where the wire must follow complex routing paths, and Class 6 extra-flexible (H07V-K equivalent) for applications requiring repeated flexing. The 100m export wooden case packaging is standardised across the range — the same case format used for all single-core building wires — simplifying mixed-order consolidation in container loading for electrical wholesalers and panel builders.

Class 5 stranding at scale: The 400mm² NYAF conductor contains 2,035 individual 0.50mm copper wires — each approximately the thickness of a paper clip. Compare with Class 2 400mm² which uses just 61 wires of 2.85mm. The Class 5 wire count increases exponentially because each strand is only 0.25-0.50mm — thin enough to bend freely when the bundle flexes. The trade-off is slightly higher DC resistance (e.g. 1.41 Ω/km for 10mm² Class 5 vs 1.83 Ω/km for Class 1 solid) due to the shorter inter-wire contact paths and the inclusion of strand-twist length in the resistance calculation. Short-circuit current values are 1-second withstand — multiply by √5 ≈ 2.24 for the equivalent 0.2s rating, the industry standard protective device operating time.

Typical Applications

NYAF flexible wire is the standard internal wiring conductor for industrial control panels, switchgear, and electrical equipment where rigid solid wire cannot follow the complex routing paths inside crowded enclosures:

Switchgear Internal Wiring

Point-to-point wiring in LV and MV switchgear compartments. 4×D bending radius navigates tight breaker and busbar clearances.

🔧

Control & Relay Panels

Standard wire for industrial motor control centres (MCC), PLC cabinets, and relay logic panels where dozens of wires share tight trunking.

📡

Instrumentation Panels

Flexible wire for process instrumentation, RTD/thermocouple connections, and transducer wiring where fine-gauge flexibility simplifies installation.

⚙️

Motor Starters & Controllers

Internal wiring of DOL starters, star-delta starters, soft starters, and VFD enclosures — where vibration resistance of flexible wire extends service life.

🔌

Rectifier Equipment

Internal DC bus connections in rectifier and power supply cabinets. Class 5 stranding handles DC ripple heating better than solid wire.
