Product Overview
KVV32 Control Cable is a copper conductor, PVC insulated, PVC inner sheathed, steel wire armoured (SWA), PVC outer sheathed control cable rated at 450/750V, manufactured to IEC 60227, IEC 60502, GB/T 9330, and BS 6500. The "32" suffix in KVV32 denotes steel wire armour — a layer of helically wound galvanised round steel wires that provides substantially superior mechanical protection to the steel tape armour of KVV22. The round steel wires form a continuous interlocked layer that resists tensile pulling, crushing, rodent attack, and lateral impact simultaneously — making KVV32 the preferred choice for direct burial in ground, routing through areas with significant mechanical hazard, and installations exposed to rodent populations.
Compared to KVV22 (steel tape armour), KVV32 offers higher tensile strength (the steel wires can carry axial load during cable pulling and in vertical drops), better crush resistance, and superior rodent protection — at the cost of a slightly larger overall diameter and heavier weight per unit length. The steel wire armour can also serve as a Circuit Protective Conductor (CPC / earth) when bonded at both ends per IEC 60364/GB 50054, eliminating the need for a separate earth core in most installations. Available in conductor sizes 0.75 mm² to 6 mm² and core counts from 2 to 61 cores.
Steel Wire Armour — Superior Mechanical Protection
Round galvanised steel wires wound helically over the inner sheath provide three-dimensional mechanical protection: radial crush resistance, axial tensile strength during pulling and in vertical drops, and lateral impact resistance. Superior to steel tape armour (KVV22) in all three mechanical axes.
Direct Burial Without Conduit
The steel wire armour provides the mechanical protection level required for direct burial in ground without additional conduit — the highest-value installation advantage of KVV32 over KVV22. Direct burial eliminates conduit material cost and installation labour, and simplifies underground control cable routing between field equipment and control buildings.
Rodent Attack Resistance
The round steel wire construction resists rodent gnawing — rats and mice cannot bite through the interlocked wire layer even when sustained attack is directed at a single point. KVV22 steel tape offers lower rodent resistance; KVV32 is the mandatory specification for underground control cable in areas with documented rodent populations.
Steel Wire as CPC
The armour steel wire layer, when bonded to earth at both termination ends, provides a continuous low-impedance earth path (CPC) throughout the cable length — eliminating the need for a dedicated earth core in most control circuit applications and simplifying panel termination and earth design.
GB/T 9330 + IEC + BS — Triple Standard
Multi-standard certification makes KVV32 suitable for Chinese-standard domestic projects (GB/T 9330), international projects with IEC specification (IEC 60227/60502), and Commonwealth-market projects referencing BS 6500 — a single cable product satisfies the procurement requirements of all three standard families.
2 to 61 Cores — Full Control System Range
The complete core count range from 2-core simple circuits to 61-core high-density PLC marshalling assemblies within a single KVV32 family — simplifying multi-cable project procurement and enabling consistent cable construction standards across all control cable runs in the same installation.

Key Features & Technical Advantages
Three-Axis Mechanical Protection
Round steel wire armour simultaneously resists: (1) radial crushing — soil overburden or vehicle load above a buried cable; (2) axial tension — pulling forces during cable installation or weight of a vertical cable drop; (3) lateral impact — accidental striking by digging tools, falling objects, or vehicle contact. No other armour type provides all three simultaneously.
Direct Burial — No Conduit Required
KVV32 meets the mechanical protection requirements for direct burial in most soil conditions without additional conduit — eliminating conduit purchase and installation from the project cost. For long underground control cable runs between field equipment and control buildings, KVV32 direct burial versus KVV22 in conduit often represents significant cost savings.
Rodent Proof Construction
The interlocked round wire layer resists sustained rodent gnawing at any single point — the steel wire hardness and the mechanical interlocking prevent tooth penetration even under repeated attack. Mandatory for underground control cable in agricultural, food processing, grain storage, and waste water treatment facilities where rodent populations are unavoidable.
Tensile Strength for Vertical Drops
In mine shaft, elevator shaft, and tall building riser installations where long vertical cable drops create significant self-weight tensile loading, KVV32 steel wire armour carries the axial load — allowing longer unsupported vertical runs than KVV22 without requiring supplementary cable cleats or external support systems at frequent intervals.
Higher Pull-In Load Capacity
During installation through conduit, cable trays, or direct pull-in to underground ducts, KVV32's tensile armour strength permits higher pulling tensions — enabling longer horizontal pull-in distances without intermediate pull pits, and reducing the risk of insulation damage from excessive tensile stress during difficult routing.
IEC 60332-1 Flame Retardant
PVC insulation and sheath pass IEC 60332-1 single wire vertical flame test — self-extinguishing when the ignition source is removed. ZR-KVV32 (flame retardant) variant available for installations requiring IEC 60332-3 bundle flame test compliance in high cable density areas.
