Product Overview
Twin Core Solar Cable (H1Z2Z2-K) is a two-conductor photovoltaic DC cable consisting of two identical H1Z2Z2-K single cores — one red (positive) and one black (negative) — laid parallel and bound together. Each core is independently insulated and jacketed to the full EN 50618 / IEC 62930 standard, and the assembly carries TUV 2PfG 1169/08.2007 certification. Rated at 1.8 kV DC / 0.9 kV AC with an operating range of −40 °C to +120 °C, the twin core format delivers both positive and negative conductors in a single run — halving installation labour and keeping polarity pairing permanent from panel to combiner box.
The twin core format is the preferred choice for string wiring where both polarities must run the same route. Red/black colour coding eliminates polarity errors at termination. Available in sizes from 2.5 mm² to 16 mm² (per core), supplied on 500 m or 1000 m drums. Each individual core is structurally identical to the single core H1Z2Z2-K — same Class 5 tinned copper conductor, same XLPO insulation, same XLPO outer jacket.

Red Core (Positive) — XLPO outer jacket, XLPO insulation, Class 5 tinned copper conductor
Black Core (Negative) — Identical construction to red core, same EN 50618 rating
Twin Assembly — Two cores bound in parallel; same route, permanent polarity pairing, no separation risk
Permanent Polarity Pairing
Red (+) and black (−) cores are factory-bound together. Polarity is fixed at manufacture — eliminating field wiring errors and reducing combiner box termination time.
Half the Installation Runs
One twin-core cable replaces two separate single-core runs. Fewer cable clips, shorter routing time, neater racking appearance — significant labour saving on large arrays.
1.8 kV DC / 1500 V System
Each core independently rated 1.8 kV DC. Compatible with modern 1500 V DC PV systems — the same voltage rating as the single core H1Z2Z2-K.
−40 °C to +120 °C
XLPO compound maintains flexibility in arctic cold and resists deformation under peak summer conduit temperatures — full performance across all climates.
UV & Ozone Resistant
XLPO outer jacket on each core passes EN 50618 accelerated UV ageing. No cracking or embrittlement for the full 25-year outdoor design life.
TUV Rheinland Certified
TUV 2PfG 1169 certification — the recognised quality benchmark for photovoltaic cables required by EPC contractors and project lenders worldwide.

Single Core Construction — Identical in Every Core
Each core of the twin cable is built to the same specification as the standalone single core H1Z2Z2-K. The twin format adds no compromise to individual core performance — every core independently meets the full EN 50618 electrical, mechanical, and ageing requirements.

XLPO Outer Jacket — UV/ozone resistant irradiation cross-linked polyolefin
XLPO Insulation — Inner cross-linked layer providing dual dielectric protection
Class 5 Tinned Copper — Fine-stranded IEC 60228 conductor, tin-coated for corrosion resistance and reliable MC4 termination
Corrosion-Resistant Tinned Copper
Tin coating protects each strand against oxidation, humidity, and sulfur attack — essential for the 25-year outdoor service life required by EN 50618.
Double XLPO Insulation System
Separate XLPO insulation and XLPO jacket on each core provide dual dielectric protection, meeting the 1.8 kV DC rated voltage under the harshest outdoor conditions.
Class 5 Flexibility
Fine-stranded Class 5 construction maintains excellent flexibility for routing around racking systems and into junction boxes without conductor fatigue.
Reliable MC4 Crimping
Tinned strands crimp cleanly with standard MC4 connectors, delivering low-resistance, gas-tight terminations that remain stable for the life of the PV system.
